Mahalaxmi Group was founded in 1985 by Mr. Laxmi Chand, whose vision, values, and discipline laid the foundation of what would become one of Northeast India’s most influential corporate institutions. He often reminded us that "running a company is like heading a large family — people may differ in roles and resources, but must stand united in ethics." When I took on the responsibility of carrying forward his vision, I held that philosophy close. My father passed on 13.09.2021, but his principles — integrity, courage, and care — remain deeply embedded in everything we do. From those humble beginnings, Mahalaxmi Group has evolved into a future-focused enterprise, with a presence across coal mining, coke manufacturing, import and export of coal & coke, pulp and paper, real estate, commodity trading, and logistics — a testament not just to scale, but to strategic intent. Our legacy is built on bold choices, calculated risks, and the belief that the market rewards those who act with clarity and conviction. Guided by this ethos, we are now investing ?5,000 crore in Northeast India — constructing a next-generation pulp and paper mill in Assam, opening three coal mines, and adding three cement plants across Assam and Meghalaya. These projects will create 4,700 direct jobs, support 17,500 livelihoods, and secure vital raw-material supply chains for decades to come. Yet, what powers Mahalaxmi Group most is not just capital or infrastructure — it’s our people. A bold, forward-thinking team driven by a shared mission to build partnerships, unlock opportunity, and push boundaries. We are not only keeping pace with change — we are engineering it, for the Northeast, and for India. Through our philanthropic arms — the Mahalaxmi Foundation and Nav Jeevan Foundation — we don’t just give back; we build forward.
